Canary
Canaries have been domesticated for several hundred years, making them a wonderful, exciting, inexpensive bird to keep in captivity. They come in a wide variety of colours, although the yellow canary is perhaps the most commonly seen. Although these birds cannot be held or petted like many parrot species, they are a rewarding and easy species to keep in captivity.

Eclectus Parrot
These incredibly beautiful parrots make good pet birds, having an inquisitive and quite talkative nature. They are fairly social animals and require much stimulation to remain happy and healthy. Males and females are strikingly different in appearance. They are so different they were thought for many years to be a different species. The image to the right is of a female Eclectus Parrot. These Parrots grow to around 35cm, are active during the day and can live for over 30 years.
Quaker Parakeet
These lovely small parakeets are common in captivity, and take well to a domesticated lifestyle. They are known to be quite 'chatty' and can attain a fairly expanse vocabulary for a parakeet. They are highly intelligent birds that need regular mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Captive breeding has led this species to produce several colour variations, such as blue or white in the place of green.
