Raising the Steaks!

Raising the Steaks!Britain's first crocodile farm has been set up in Cambridgeshire. The owner, Andy Johnson, has begun with one male and seven female Nile crocodiles, and expects to breed 1,000 within 10 years. He hopes to be offering crocodile meat to consumers within three years. Crocodile steaks are low in cholesterol and are said to taste like poultry.

Mr Johnson told The Times that he had already been bitten by a small crocodile: "We are learning by trial and error. The main thing is you must never lose eye contact with them." His farm is licensed by Huntingdon District Council, and no objections from local residents have been reported.
