Devon Rex

Devon RexThe Devon Rex originated from a tortie and white shorthair mated with a rex coated feral male cat in 1960.  The resulting curly haired kitten was grown up and mated with a Cornish Rex, which at first was thought to be compatible.  This proved not so however, as all offspring from these two curly haired cats resulted in all normal haired kittens.  From then, the Devon Rex was bred as a separate and distinct Rex breed.  It is a fairly affectionate and energetic cat, and unlike the Cornish Rex can cope with outdoor conditions far better.  It is well suited to most households, being highly compatible with other animals and generally good with children.
